The original mousemaker Jans
My grandmother Jans made mice from the beginning of the 1970's until shortly before her death in 2005. In total she knitted around 2,500 mice. In addition she crocheted doilies and bed spreads and she embroidered/cross stitched beautiful work. All of her work was either given away or sold for charity.
The current mousemaker Mara (JMJ)
I started knitting at a very early age so I wouldn't be a bother. During my years in England I found the patterns of Jean Greenhowe and made several of them. After my grandmother's death I decided to try and find the pattern, although it took several years and the help of a friend to find it. It needed some adapting, but I have been making them ever since. My current tally stands at around 100, so nowhere near my grandmother's! Recently I have also started knitting other things, as well as crocheting simple things and sewing simple things.
The lace maker Janneke
My mother Janneke found lace several years ago and loved making it from the start. As this blog was originally meant to raise funds for a charity she supported, we have decided to try and sell some of her work as well. Lace is made using a cushion, either on a table or on your lap, tons of pins to keep the thread in place and bobbins, lots of bobbins. The more intricate the work, the more bobbins and pins are needed.
